Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites

Building the canal was a huge undertaking, involving thousands of mostly German and Irish men digging their way across the state.  At the same time, these men were trying to build a community in their new Indiana home.  Explore history as an Irish canal worker tells his story and shares his experiences constructing the Whitewater Canal.
