METAMORA, Ind. – The public is invited to grab their flashlights for Haunted Lane, a spooky stroll along the canal route in Metamora, Ind. on Saturday, Oct. 15 and Saturday, Oct. 22. Three guided tours, held at 7:30, 8 and 8:30 p.m. will replace the annual Spooky Halloween Cruise on the Ben Franklin III Canal Boat while the aqueduct is being repaired.
Visitors will meet the infamous Headless Horseman, a fortune-telling raven and what is left of the founding fathers of Metamora. Spooky storytelling will be told canal side by Jeff Kuehl.
“Even though we can’t do boat rides this year, this is a fun getaway for kids and family,” said Anne Fairchild, Whitewater Canal State Historic Site event manager. “The best part is that participants get into the spirit of the holiday by dressing up in costume, which adds to the sights and sounds along the canal route. While the nationally famous aqueduct is undergoing repairs, visitors can still experience the Halloween magic of the village and events on the Ben Franklin III Canal Boat before venturing along the Haunted Lane.”
Visitors will receive trick-or-treat candy. Following the program, visitors will have a chance to check out the rest of the Haunted Village of Metamora sponsored by Metamora Merchant Association.
Tickets are $2 per person with tours departing in 30-minute intervals. The last stroll will begin at
8:30 p.m.
