T.C. Steele State Historic Site to host ‘Steele’s Country Christmas’

NASHVILLE, Ind. (Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017) – On Dec. 3, the T.C. Steele State Historic Site will open the Large Studio and the House of the Singing Winds to visitors for its annual holiday celebration, “Steele’s Country Christmas.”
Visitors will be welcomed into the fully-decorated house from 1 to 4 p.m., and families will have the opportunity to visit and take photos with St. Nicholas and Belsnickel from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.
From 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. guests can enjoy cookies, mulled cider, Christmas card decorating, and a music program by 2 Daves, who will perform traditional holiday jazz tunes.
“Our visitors have an opportunity to skip the lines at the mall and take photos with St. Nick that they’ll cherish for years,” Cate Whetzel, historic site program developer, said.
She added that the Brown County Almanack just featured “Steele’s Country Christmas” in its holiday visitors guide.
“We’re thrilled to be recognized as one of the nicest holiday programs in the county,” Whetzel said.
Members of the Indiana State Museum and the Friends of T.C. Steele are admitted to the program free of charge. All other guests will be charged general admission to experience the festivities, which includes a tour of the historic buildings. General admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $4 for kids ages 3 to 17, and free for children under age 3. Families receive a special discount deal that’s a max total cost of $20 per family.
