NASHVILLE, Ind. — T.C. Steele State Historic Site was the location of an Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay reception for Brown County torchbearers on Friday, Sept. 20.

“We would like to thank all of our sponsors and the Brown County Convention and Visitors Bureau for organizing the relay and inviting us to host the reception,” said Cate Whetzel, T.C. Steele State Historic Site program developer.

Steele’s Large Studio was open for relay participants and visitors to see the newest rotation of paintings from the Indiana State Museum collection and to view Steele’s own Centennial medal that he purchased during the 1916 celebrations.

The reception, also affectionately referred to as the ‘pie-centennial’ by T.C. Steele State Historic Site staffers, was overwhelmingly supported by Brown County’s residents. A variety of pies and cobblers were donated for the celebration including apple, peach, pecan, cherry, sugar cream and zucchini!

The reception was supported by Abe Martin Lodge, Artists Colony Inn, Brown County Coffee, Brown County IGA, Brown County KOA, 4th Sister Vintage, Hobnob Corner, Hotel Nashville, The Nashville General Store and Bakery, and The Story Inn.
