INDIANAPOLIS — Looking for something to do while the kids are out of school this Labor Day? Join the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites for School’s Out! Labor Day and enjoy a day of art activities, performances and special tours focused on Indiana industry.

“On Labor Day, the Indiana State Museum will be filled with fun hands-on activities like making a Labor Day themed puppet, meeting Sullivan the Irish canal worker and discovering what it’s like to work in a limestone quarry,” said Emily Coleman, gallery programming specialist for the museum. “It’s a great opportunity to spend a day off enjoying some time with the family, while learning about Indiana’s labor history!”

Art Cart Coloring Sheets: all day

Labor Day Puppet activity: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Irish Canal Worker performance: 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Visit a Limestone Quarry: Noon, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
