Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites to offer free admission on Presidents’ Day

INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 7, 2020) – The Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites will offer free admission to the downtown Indianapolis museum and all currently open state historic sites on Feb. 17 in honor of Presidents’ Day.

Please note, Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site in Rome City, New Harmony State Historic Site in New Harmony and Whitewater Canal State Historic Site in Metamora have seasonal hours and are currently closed.

WHAT: Celebrate Presidents’ Day at the Indiana State Museum with activities honoring our nation’s presidents. Visitors can become part of JFK’s space race by designing their own lunar lander or create their own invention and become an inventor like Abraham Lincoln. Plus, visitors can test their knowledge of vice presidents, deliver an iconic presidential speech or conduct a briefing in the White House Press Room.

Visitors will also be able to explore all of the museum’s experiences, including “FIX: Heartbreak and Hope Inside Our Opioid Crisis” and “Rube Goldberg™: The World of Hilarious Invention! Exhibit.

At the historic sites, enjoy the grounds and tour the sites for free in honor of the holiday.

WHERE: Indiana State Museum, 650 W. Washington St., Indianapolis.

Currently open historic sites around the state include Angel Mounds State Historic Site in Evansville, Corydon Capitol State Historic Site in Corydon, Culbertson Mansion State Historic Site in New Albany, Lanier Mansion State Historic Site in Madison, Levi and Catharine Coffin State Historic Site in Fountain City, Limberlost State Historic Site in Geneva, T.C. Steele State Historic Site in Nashville and Vincennes State Historic Sites in Vincennes.
