GENEVA, Ind. – The public is invited to Creatures of the Night on Friday, April 21 at 8:30 p.m. at the Loblolly Marsh Nature Preserve. Attendees will learn about creatures that roam the Limberlost when the sun goes down.

“Nighttime is the right time for many types of animals,” said Nicky Ball, Limberlost State Historic Site manager. “Come to the Loblolly Marsh to see what nature’s night shift is up to.”

The program will include a night hike in the woods where attendees will search for glowing eyes. In the marsh, participants will listen for frog calls, discover nocturnal underwater creatures with a dip-netting activity and reach into mystery boxes to guess what is inside. Guests will also have the chance to hear and see like a creature of the night by using bionic ears and a night vision monocular.

The program will end with a campfire and marshmallow roast. Attendees are encouraged to bring a flashlight.

Admission is $4 per adult and $3 per child ages 3 to 12. No toddlers, please.

The Loblolly Marsh parking lot is located at 8323 N. 250 W. in Bryant, Ind.

Limberlost State Historic Site in Adams County and the Loblolly Marsh Wetland Preserve in Jay County are located near Geneva in northeastern Indiana. Part of the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites, Limberlost admission is free for Indiana State Museum & Historic Site members. General admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for children. The Historic Site is located at 200 E. 6th Street in Geneva, Ind., just off U.S. Highway 27.
