Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site hosts birding workshop and ice cream social
ROME CITY, Indiana (July 1, 2019) – Bring your family to the Family Birding Workshop and Ice Cream Social July 13.
WHAT: Families will work together to build a birdhouse and learn about the birds that call the site home, then enjoy birdwatching during a bird hike. Participants will also listen to a reading from “Morning Face,” a book written by Gene Stratton-Porter for her granddaughter, featuring sing-songs and short stories about birds and plants found at the site. After the birding hike, join us for an ice cream social in the Carriage House.
Each family will build and decorate a birdhouse to take home. Additional birdhouses are available for a $12 fee.
