We are so glad that you have an interest in volunteering here with us at the Indiana State Museum. As an institution dedicated to the preservation of Indiana’s history and heritage from the past, present and future, we have much work to do and we rely on the support of our volunteers to carry out this work with us. We invite you to be a part of showcasing Indiana’s past, present and future. Museum volunteers play a critical role in ensuring that each visitor has an enjoyable and educational experience. Whether you have a passion for art, science or culture or just want to share a dose of Hoosier hospitality with museum guests, we have a volunteer opportunity to interest you.
Prospective volunteers must complete a volunteer application or youth volunteer application. Each prospective volunteer will be paired with an available volunteer opportunity that matches his/her interests and background.
We have many exciting and challenging opportunities available to you as an Indiana State Museum volunteer. Please feel free to explore a number of opportunities to find the best fit for your interests, skills and availability. We encourage you to take advantage of on-site educational opportunities and special events so that you might learn more about Indiana and our multi-faceted history.
Internships are also available each year. These are coordinated by the volunteer staff. Download a list of Current Internship opportunities.
